Washing your lashes is SO important. As a lash designer and lash lover, I can't emphasize that enough!!
Lash extensions are one of life’s greatest blessings - am I right? You have to take care of them though. If you want to keep your lashes looking fire, fluffy, and flawless, as well as keep your eyes healthy - it is recommended to wash them once a day. Cleaning your eyelash extensions not only keeps your lashes looking fan-tastic, it also helps them last longer and prevents infections. Forget that whole “don’t get your lash extensions wet” notion.
There are so many lash cleansers on the market (and no, baby shampoo is not a lash cleanser - but more on that in a later post). So, how do you choose? Well, I have tried quite a few and I have to say my absolute favorite is from Borboleta Beauty. It is called Lash Bath and comes in both gel and foam formulations.
Most lash cleansers are very stripping which can cause your eyelids to become a little dry. Borboleta’s formula is aimed not only to wash your lashes but also nourish your skin. As you can read on their website, “Formulated with targeted ingredients like moisture-binding hyaluronic acid and amino acids to replenish and hydrate for more youthful looking skin while strengthening and conditioning natural lashes.” I love this company’s attention to detail & offering a great cleansing product without forgetting the skin around our eyes as well.
I personally love both the gel and foam formulations. I use both, I keep one in the shower and one at my bathroom sink. That way I get the best of both worlds, right? Pair that with your favorite lash cleansing brush (Clean Swoop is the bomb .com) and you have it made!
Wondering how to wash your lashes?
Here are some tips:
+ Foam: Dispense 1-2 pumps of cleanser onto the back of your hand.
+ Gel: Dispense a pea sized amount of cleanser on to the back of your hand.
+ Using a soft, fluffy cleansing brush and a little water, apply to your eyelids
+ Gently brush over your eyelids, through your lashes, and along your lash line
+ Rinse eyes with water, let dry, then brush them out with your trusty lash wand
